Kunje Guesthouse in De Straat

Kunje Guesthouse offers chalets, holiday homes, and a vacation home. All units have private bathrooms, air conditioning, and mountain views. The chalets sleep up to 6 people, with fully equipped kitchens, a porch, and a braai area. Holiday homes include a private pool, garden, and hot tub. Beds are comfortable, linen is crisp, and bathrooms are clean. Some units have two en-suite bedrooms.

There is no restaurant on-site. Each unit has a self-catering kitchen with a stove, microwave, and all utensils. A welcome pack includes milk, tea, and coffee. Guests can buy farm products like dried fruit (mebos and cubes) and wood for the braai or hot tub. A tour of the fruit packing plant is available - staff show you how dried fruit is made.

The property has a hot tub (wood-fired), a plunge pool, and a kids' pool. Outdoor facilities include a fireplace, picnic area, and terrace. Hiking trails are well-marked and range from short walks to longer routes leading to rock pools, Bushman paintings, and dramatic rock formations. Cycling is possible on farm roads. Stargazing from the hot tub is a highlight. Guests also enjoy the garden and fruit orchard.

Kunje is 30 km from Citrusdal Golf Club and sits in the Cederberg mountains. The nearest SPAR and petrol station are 40 km away in Ceres. Access from Cape Town: take the N1 via Ceres (tar road all the way). Coming via Citrusdal requires a 4x4 or SUV over a dirt pass. The farm is surrounded by fruit trees and mountains - very quiet and remote.

Private check-in and check-out are offered. Parking is free and accessible. The guesthouse has facilities for disabled guests and family rooms. There is no Wi-Fi, but Vodacom cellular coverage is good. Staff are friendly and responsive - they deliver wood on request, provide hiking maps, and give tours of the fruit factory. Guests can buy farm products on-site.
